One type of dress that is very popular currently is the strapless dress. Depending on your figure type and the support in the strapless dress, this may be a style that you decide to go with when shopping for a formal dress or gown. However, there are some things that you should be aware of when it comes to strapless dresses.

The first thing that you should realize is that a strapless dress is not the best choice for all body types. A strapless dress will draw attention to your neck, shoulders, arms, back, and of course your bust. If you don’t like any of these parts of your body, you should go with another style instead of a strapless dress.

The best body type for a strapless dress a balanced figure. This is a figure with a moderate bust line, a slimming (but not tiny) waist, and moderate hips. Unfortunately, most women aren’t blessed with the perfect figure. If you have an hourglass type figure, the strapless dress can look good on you as well. This style can be especially flattering if you want to accentuate your body shape and curves.

If you have a moderate bust line and a rounded shape around your waist and hips, you can also get away with a strapless dress. However, you won’t want to go with a form-fitting style. Instead you will want to stick with an A-line style strapless dress. If you’re big busted, a strapless dress is most likely not a good choice. If you wish to draw attention to your bust, then you can still wear one, but it’s not recommended. Women with larger busts appear to be bursting out of strapless dresses and may find that they fall out of them. It’s actually not a really flattering style for one who has a large bust.

If you have still decided that a strapless dress is a good style for you, then you will want to make sure that the style you have has plenty of support. When trying on a strapless dress before purchasing it, wear the bra that you plan on using when wearing the dress. Examine how the dress fits, feels and looks with the bra. Also, it’s helpful to jump and bounce a bit to see how the support of the strapless dress works for you. This will save future embarrassment when wearing the dress to a function.
